Dirk cake by candidcantrix, based on a scene from Rise Up. Of the all-around greatness that was UK413, this was one of the more delicious points.
Reblogging because I was SO PLEASED WITH THIS, you have no idea. (And then his leg fell off during the journey and his head fell off and got smudged and everything needed to be precariously balanced when I got to the meet.) I’ll probably remake him sometime!

I decided to re-post this picture on its own because this cake is just awesome :3
Made by the lovely people who run Cakestuck.
Another from the batch of cupcakes made for the Manchester UK413 meet!
Made by the beatiful and talented people over at Cakestuck
Reblogging this here because we made a whole batch of these chocolate character cupcakes to give to cosplayers at the Manchester MSPA UK413 meet, but didn’t have time to take photos before we left! Fortunately a few nice people seem have taken their own photos, which are floating round tumblr :)
strideer reblogged your photoset: Shipping cakes! We originally intended to have…
i really wanna know if the little people and trolls are edible *v*
they are all made of icing! :)
Shipping cakes!
We originally intended to have these done by Valentine’s Day, but in the end we were too busy, so we’re posting them now!
We found it really hard to narrow it down to just a few ships, so we tried to include a mixture of canon pairings, popular fandom pairings, and a few that we personally ship :)
John<3Dave, Jade<3Feferi and Karkat<3Gamzee were made by Vector, and Cantrix did: Vriska<3<Terezi; Sollux<3<Eridan; Vriska<3<Eridan3<Kanaya; Spades<3<Snowmanc3<Scratch; Nepeta<>Equius; Rose<3Kanaya; John<3/<3<Karkat; and Dave<3<Karkat<3Terezi.
(Bonus: Teeny Tiny Eridan and Very Rushed Alpha Kids)
Exiles!
The cake is based off this panel, and to go with the orange/brown colour scheme we made it a sand flavoured chai and ginger cake :)

Thanks!
I wasn’t sure if you meant the icing on the top of the cupcakes, or the decorations, so I’ll answer both :)
The tops of the cupcakes are iced with buttercream. You beat some butter till it’s creamy, then sieve and gradually beat in icing sugar. This time I used a ratio of 1:1 (125g of butter to 125g of icing) and that seemed to work fairly well, but you can mess around with that.
If you want to make flavoured buttercream, just add your flavourings once you’ve beaten the two together. For the Tinkerbull cakes, I just added a teaspoon of vanilla extract, since those were my first cupcakes and I didn’t want to get too complicated, but since the pile cupcakes were coconut and lime flavoured I added a little creamed coconut and lime juice to the buttercream. (Incidentally, adding a touch of lemon or lime juice helps to take the edge off the sweetness if you’ve added a lot of icing sugar!)
As for consistency, if you’ve beaten the butter and icing sugar together and find it’s too stiff, you can add a little milk. If it gets too sloppy (as I found it did when I started adding food colouring), just add more icing sugar.
I might try out different types of icing later, but since I’m not used to making cupcakes (I really only made birthday cakes for my friends before this blog), I thought it best to stay simple for now! Incidentally, if anyone has good tips for icing/buttercream, I’d be glad to hear them – I’m kind of playing it by ear at the moment.
If you were talking about the icing decorations, that’s a much simpler answer – we just used ready-to-roll blocks of icing, which you can pretty much get anywhere :D
After taking a break for the Christmas holidays, we are BACK.
From now on you guys can expect regular updates, starting with these pile-themed cupcakes!!!!! (You can’t taste them, but they are coconut and lime flavoured this time around. They are really delicious!)
So in order: Equius’ pile of robot parts, Vriska’s pile of broken magic 8-balls (+dice), Gamzee’s pile of horns, Eridan’s pile of wands, Terezi’s scalemate pile, and…and Bro doesn’t really have a pile, but if he did, they’d be creepy plush things.
Our first project: Tinkerbull butterfly cakes!
Cakes come with two Jake English icing figures re-enacting panels for your enjoyment :)
The cake that kicked this thing off :)

Pictures of revolutionator and her birthday cake! I have named it “Cakestuck” :D
It’s supposed to be the four kids on their lands at the top, then a tier with an Alternia backdrop, then the Veil (with all twelve trolls). It took me about a week to make, during which time I had various mishaps with collapsing icing and so on, and I only just got it finished in time for her birthday! Some of the trolls worked better than others, but overall I was pretty pleased with it.
Oh, and the cake itself is supposed to be a checkerboard pattern when you cut into it, but we haven’t cut it yet so I couldn’t test that out :)
